Ahhhh.  Two days in a row of DDR.  I feel good.

Yesterday I played two games (16 minutes) and today I played five (40 minutes).  I'm trying to build my endurance back up.  I was getting winded after Butterfly!!  I plan to go back tomorrow and play at least three games (for those of you who aren't math majors: 24 minutes).  I played mostly Light level, but I did a few Standard songs.  I didn't do any Standard songs that I knew I couldn't finish; this was about building my endurance back up, not my skill level.  Tomorrow I'm going to focus on endurance too.  I can't work on beating Dam Dariram on Standard if I don't have the endurance for it! ^_^

It's been about three months since I was really working out with DDR.  The nice lady that owns the arcade DID miss me!  I jokingly said they would miss me back in November when I sprained my ankle, but it was good to hear that she did remember me and asked after me.

I <3 DDR.

I just got DDR about a month ago. I'm pretty frustrated because I just can't follow it. Any suggestions for a newbie?

I'm not as familiar with the home versions because I play the arcade version. ^_^ But from my experience, the home versions are harder and take more time to get used to. The good thing about the arcades is that MOST of them have DDR Extreme, which as far as I know is the only game with a "Beginner" setting.

If you don't want to try practicing on the arcade version, here are some basic tips:
Keep your feet out of the middle. When I start a game, I always place my feet on the left and right arrows. When you're done hitting an arrow, leave your foot on the arrow till you need it again. Never let your feet go back to the center.
Be ready for the jumps, especially left/right and up/down. Practice them a little. Don't jump too high, or you'll wear yourself out. Just a little hop will do.

For more tips I recommend DDR Freak. It can also tell you where the arcade locations are! I know there's one at the Gameworks in Columbus, but little places like Putt Putts are usually cheaper than Gameworks.

Good luck. ^_^ I love this game; it's so addicting to try and get better and better!

I haven't played in so long. Need to get back into the swing of things. Gotten some of the standard songs ^^ but still have a long way to go. Finally got Paranoia Afranova on light (exhausted afterwards though).
