Over the past few months, I have friended several new and interesting people.  If you're on my friends list, then please be assured that I find you interesting and I like to read your posts.

However, I feel the need to raise this caveat before anyone continues to read further in my journal.

I am a gay, pro-choice liberal.  Therefore, I will make some posts regarding things of interest to gay, pro-choice liberals.  Many people on my f-list share my opinions.  Some don't.  That's fine.  I respect your right to have a different opinion from mine, and I'm quite sure that not every opinion I have is right. ^_^

If I should make a post that you disagree with, I would ask that you simply skip over the post or unfriend me rather than starting a fight on my LJ.  Frankly, this is my LJ to post what I want.  And to accept what content I want.  And I don't want attacks or insults or anything negative of that nature on my LJ.  My LJ is the wrong forum for a debate.  If you would like to discuss an issue with me outside of LJ, let me know and I might be amenable.

Bottom line: There is a chance I may post something you don't like.  Don't bring your dissenting opinion to my LJ.  I don't want to discuss it here.  Just skip the post.

:-) Nice post.

I feel exactly the same way you do about stuff like that. It's YOUR journal, you can post whatever you want. If people don't like it they can piss off, it isn't like you're going into their journal calling them wrong.

See, I feel the exact opposite about my LJ, people are welcome to batter politics to hell whenever I post stuff like that. But I respect you, your stance on issues, and your wishes, and although we come from different backgrounds I always appreciate your input. So I won't go looking for debates with you :) even if I disagree I'll keep my mouth shut.

Anyone who can't handle a differing opinion without starting an immature fight in print probably isn't a good friend anyway! I enjoy your posts with a political tone...but I guess I usually agree with you, so that makes it more fun, eh? ;p

I have another friend who is having the same problem. She posts something that someone on their f-list doesn't agree with. Then that person tries to start up shit in her journal about it.

Sigh.

Make as many gay or pro-choice posts as you want. I don't mind a bit :)

Oh GOD, I so agree with you. Anytime I bring up God or politics, someone has to disagree. And that's fine, to disagree, but not on my journal where I type up rants or opinions to let off some steam. The last thing I want is to get worked up again about debating the issue I just put down for the sake of stress-relief.

I like your posts - you make me think when I don't want to and think, "Damn I need to do more." And I do.

So post away Sister!!! Enlighten me and others. If someone doesn't like it - F%&k em.

Yup. Its YOUR lj, to write in as you please. Self-censorship is a killer of thought, and you shouldn't have to take it to that point.

This issue is something that keeps me from writing in my own LJ ... I like your attitude about it and I have also been thinking about how to manage my strong emotions well enough to write about them without offending people.

I really like your "about this journal" sidebar.
