pennywhistleIt's time to look back over the Year 2003. I'm going back through all my journal entries for
this year, to sum up what happened and see how far I've come.
January
January started out with me talking about needing to practice steno. Nothings changed there ^_^
It was the beginning of my 2nd quarter of school.
Eric and I were still talking, and he was engaged at the time. *snickers* She dumped him two
months later, smart girl.
Did a photoshoot with![[livejournal.com profile]](https://www.dreamwidth.org/img/external/lj-userinfo.gif)
queensheba with the very talented anongrrl as the photographer. Still have
yet to get all of the pictures ;-p
I got my first (and only, so far) speeding ticket, and was extremely pissed. (And I had every
right to be, there have been times when I have totally deserved a ticket, but that was not one of
them ;-p)
I started the year in my old apartment in Anderson Township, and moved to my parents house the
weekend of 24th
We redecorated my room here at my parents house, made it a nice family project ^_^ And that
was the last time that my room was clean.
Vienna Teng was on David Letterman.
I joined Bally's.suraimu promised he would join with me. That never happened ;-p
February
The Space Shuttle Columbia exploded on February 1st.
Saw Eric for the first time since April 2002 for the Exchanging of the Stuff. Still thrilled
to NOT be with him ;-p Was still happy being single, since it hadn't been a full year yet.
Got sick at the beginning of the month, and got Super Narcotic Cough Medicine.
I was REALLY stressing out about not being able to pass my 80wpm tests. Now 80 sounds so slow
^_^
I was in the A's of my steno dictionary. Now I'm in the C's. Such progress!
My weight finally got just under 250 pounds.
My car got stuck several times on the icy streets while making pizza deliveries.
Was pondering a crush on two certain persons ^_^ (It's been resolved now ;-p)
It snowed a lot in February, we had a lot of snow days off school.
Missed Evanescence playing at a club in Dayton, before their CD released and they were huge,
because I didn't want to call off work. *stupidstupidstupid!!*
March
Went Outlet Mall shopping with some of my best friends. Probably one of my best memories of the year.
Re-reading this entry gave me a giggle.
Ran across a quiz that I stole fromdykeprincess, and it made me sad that we're not
on each other's friends lists anymore. We were never close or anything, but we had a lot in
common and I really enjoyed reading her journal.
Watched Eric and his 16 year old girlfriend snuggle *gags*
Went through a very lonely phase (this phase repeats throughout the year ;-p)
Went to All Snakes Day as a vendor and saw many Bats and old pagan acquaintances.
Got heartburn so bad I was ill.
Saw Tori Amos in Cincinnati, and got her autograph.
elynne took the month off LJ and I missed her.
Created my MWMF filter.
The country went to war.
I withdrew from winter quarter, and decided to take the classes over again.
April
My weight got down to 239 pounds (without any formal diet!)
Had a tornado come close tota2dmrm8's house while I was petsitting, and attempted to
get all 8 pets to the basement. Managed to get all but the two big dogs.
Started making real friends in school.
Attended Queer Prom with the very lovelyqueensheba and crazyladynocats.
We had a great time ^_^
Ohio Wombats began to break down then became stronger thanks to fabulous leadership.
I travelled to Nashville by myself to see Vienna Teng perform live for the first time. With
drummer and cellist. Another one of my favorite memories of the year.
Was in a Magic:TG group with Eric and Sarah for a while.
May
I met Nole GoLean.
I went to a strip club for the first time.
A stripper told me I had nice breasts.
I passed my first and second 80wpm speed tests.
We went to Philadelphia for my sister's college graduation.
Bat had to be tranquilized while we were gone to go to the vet (he gets VERY carsick).
I went to Taste of Cincinnati by myself.
I bought my Eddie Izzard front row ticket for myself ^_^
June
I went to the Public Library book sale and got a ton of books.
Went to Yadda by myself and danced by myself.
Qualified for two grants for the rest of the school year.
I began the South Beach Diet, on a whim, thanks to a MyPoints offer.
I began the South Beach Diet community. At that time, there were only two other people who
listed SBD as an interest. Now the community has 160 members, and 65 people list it as an
interest
Most June entries are what I had to eat on SBD ;-p
Went to Tristate Womonfest withanongrrl and got a HORRIBLE sunburn.
Bought a size 14/16 dress.
Got a shard of glass embedded in my foot.
July
I went to an allergist and got back on allergy shots.
I began Hard Lit classes.
My weight dropped down to 229 pounds.
I received my MWMF ticket.
Kevin left Shadowbox Cabaret. ;_;
Ohio Wombats Anniversary Party: "Brick brick brick brick brick."
I went to Toronto to see my very dear friendswinters_rose, kaichou, esachan, sirendream and siln. Many meatless cookies were
enjoyed.
"Pub pub pub pub pub pub" (Why do my friends make up one word things?)
I lost all my cds ;_;
I played DDR on a real machine for the first time.
August
Found my first grey hair.
My weight got down to 223 pounds.
I went to the Michigan Womyn's Music Festival, and I went by myself. And I had a blast. And I
spoke with the Camp Trans folks. My conversation with them is in the filter. Like to read it.
Join the filter. Michigan was amazing. I'll never forget it. And I am so impressed with myself
for going alone. Michigan was a huge part of 2003 for me, it was a turning point, it represents
the year it sums up the year. I can't wait for August 2004.
I got Alix Olson's autograph and a picture with her.
I fell in love with Alix Olson.
I got Bitch's autograph and a picture with her.
I passed both of my 100wpm speed tests on the same day.
I saw Alix Olson in Cincinnati, and it was there that I first heard about the Citizens to Restore
Fairness, the Campaign to Repeal Article XII group.
I went on my first canvass to collect signatures for the Campaign to Repeal Article XII.
My car was rear ended by a LaRosa's delivery driver.
September
Our family gang went to TGI Fridays on the river to watch the Fireworks
I metkydyke.
Helpedcrazyladynocats move out of her townhouse.
Went to the strip club again.
Went to the Ren Fest withqueensheba and her husband.
Went to Eric W.'s wedding.
September was not a very profound month. ^_^
October
October was the only month this year that I posted every single day of the month.
Saw Mitch Hedburg, Dave Attell, and Lewis Black withsuraimu, queensheba
and her husband.
I was taken off my anti-depressant, Effexor. Since October 2nd, I have only been on Topomax
(with the exception of the short trial of the coma medicine, Carbamazepine)
Coma medicine caused much steno frustrations for the first two weeks of the fall quarter.
My 6 year old IU savings account reached $5 in interest.
On my birthday, I drove to Cleveland by myself, and saw Eddie Izzard live from the front row.
Then went to the stage door after the show, got his autograph and my picture taken with him.
BEST BIRTHDAY EVER.
My friends joined me for a birthday dinner at Benihana's.
Passed my first 120wpm test.
Found out someone (possibly on my friends list) is an anti-semite.
I finally came out to my father on 10/26, and it went very well.
I dressed up as Velma from Scooby Doo for Halloween.
November
Struggled to write my NaNoWriMo novel (finished, but the last 20,000 words are crap).
Volunteered with Campaign to Repeal Article 12 to gather signatures on Election Day.
I passed my second 120wpm test and moved into the High Speed class.
Travelled to Louisville and Indianapolis to see Vienna Teng perform.
I was hired for my current job at the insurance company, and gave my notice to Donato's.
December
I worked my last day at Donato's.
I saw Alix Olson in Dayton.
The Campaign to Repeal Article 12 found the piece I wrote after my first canvass in August and
asked if they could use it with my picture in their promotional literature.
My sister was fired from her job for no reason.
I saw Starlight Express, my very favorite musical, in Cleveland.
I lost a lot of respect and favor for a teacher at my school.
Had a wonderful long day with the Wombats.
A good friend of mine hurt my feelings very badly.
A member of the Ohio Wombats was killed in a car crash.
I became very depressed and a bit alcoholic for a few days.
I saw a friend from high school that I hadn't seen in about 4-5 years.
Year in Review
Most of my posts from January through November include "I hate my job and I want to quit. I hate
my job and I want to quit. I don't want to go to work today, I hate my job." So I'm glad I
finally got out of there, even if it's not exactly where I want to be.
Scholastically, obviously, I wish I'd gone to class more second quarter so I wouldn't have had to
drop and retake it, but I'm happy that I'm in the High Speed Class finally.
I lost a total of 30 pounds. I started January 2003 at 255 pounds and I'm ending December 2003
at 225 pounds. I plan to keep the weight loss efforts up through 2004.
I completed 54 workouts in 2003. That's WAY more workouts than I did in 2002. I think I did
like 5 in 2002. ;-p
I'm still single. I can't say I'm thrilled about that, because I'm not. I wanted to remain single through at least April or July of 2003 (making it one year from when Eric and I broke up). But now it's been beyond that, and I'm ready to date again, dammit.
I've done a LOT by myself, but my friends were always there for me. I learned not to be afraid of doing things on my own. Still, I'm thrilled to no end that I'll have two sexxy grrls coming with me next August.
I went all over this year! I went to Nashville, Philadelphia, Toronto, Michigan, Cleveland,
Louisville, and Indianapolis. I can't say I never got to go anywhere this year!
I met so many famous people this year ^_^ Pictures of me with them are below. I met Vienna
Teng, Tori Amos, Alix Olson, Bitch (of Bitch and Animal), and Eddie Izzard.
I think I'm ready for 2004.
