pennywhistleInteresting day at school. Ups and downs.
I lost it during a dictation today. The reader was reading a Jury Charge, and she was reading about how the defendant was a heroin addict, and how she supported her habit by "stealing shoplifters." I don't know if it was supposed to be "stealing AND shoplifting" or what, but I just lost it. I kept picturing this woman running into a store, grabbing a person as they sneak something into their coat, holding the person under her arm, and running out. It was too funny. I couldn't type the rest of the dictation, I was laughing so hard I was crying.
It was probably a release of all the pent-up frustration I'd been feeling the first half of the class. I'm SO PISSED at my English teacher, which is a shame, because I used to think he was a great teacher, when I had him in E101. He's one of our readers for Q&A, which we had this morning. Every single morning he comes in, proclaims it's hot, and opens the window. This morning, it was colder than usual outside, but our heater IS very strong, so we had the window slightly opened. He throws the window all the way open. I tell my friend Richard to shut it half way. He does. My English teacher yells at Richard and opens the window again. It's FREEZING. I was furious with my teacher. About 10 minutes later he commented that the witness made a grammatical error, and asked us what it was. I sat there with my arms crossed, shivering and glaring. He said, "Anyone, anyone? Penny?" and I said, "If my brain wasn't frozen, maybe I would know." and he said "Well, I'm sorry that you're cold but that's just too bad, I'm near the heater and I'm hot, I can't move." Tough that you're hot, buddy. You can wear a t-shirt, but we can't put our coats on, because it interferes with our typing. Move the damn table away from the heater or something. By the end of class, my fingers and my feet were numb. I was so tempted to just get up and walk out of class. I was SO pissed off at him. Fucker. Everyone think bad thoughts at him. There we go.
Only two more days of school left. A major comprehensive English final for my very last period on Tuesday. Oh goody.
