Toronto Recap - Saturday
Aug. 1st, 2003 01:48 pmAm I lazy, or what? No, just TIRED!!!
(I'm stealing some pics from
winters_rose so my local friends can see them. Meg, if that's not cool with you, let me know?)
Here's what went down on Saturday...
We woke late, since we didn't go to bed till about 2am that morning. We picked Elisa up at her house, petted her demon kitty, then set off for Leigh's. Along the way, we realized that again we had not had anything to eat and it was around 1pm. So we decided to stop at a fast food place. You'd think this would be easy. But oh no. We must have driven for 30 minutes around Toronto looking for ANYTHING fast food. We finally found some place called Harvey's and were so happy to find fast food we decided to eat there. Well, we bought food there, we ate it in the car. We still had a half hour drive to Leigh's.
We had all sorts of plans for the day, but Toronto was not cooperating, it was raining. So we spent the entire day at Pacific Mall, which is the HUGE Asian Mall back near Kai's house. We wandered around the mall, and we all HAD to buy Pocky of course. I bought Choco-Banana pocky. Yum yum ^_^ I also bought a little Kitty present for
pixiepuff ^_~
Amusing conversation had with myself, Meg, and Marcy:
Meg: Hey Penny, do you want some Men's Pocky?
Me (thinking she said MINT pocky): No thanks, I don't like mint
Meg and Marcy stare at me for a moment, thinking I had said "No thanks, I don't like MEN"
Meg and Marcy: It's DARK CHOCOLATE!!!
Me: Ohhhhhhh, I thought you said MINT!!
Hee hee.
Marcy and I were drooling over the beautiful clothing, but only Marcy bought some, because most of the sizes didn't go up to XL ;-p Then we went to the arcade for a little DDR!!! There's a few here in Cincinnati, but I'd been to chicken to try them by myself. So we played a few rounds, and then we went to....
KARAOKE!! They had an asian style karaoke lounge, where each party gets their own private room. We rented the room for 3 hours, and sang about 100 songs ^_~ I sang songs I'd never tried before. Marcy sounded amazing, of course, Leigh was terrific, a real pro, and Elisa was great once we could talk her into it! I know I was off key a lot, but I didn't care, I was having fun, which is the point of karaoke.
After Karaoke, we went back to the arcade and played a few more rounds of DDR while the machine was vacant. Marcy tried Para Para for the first time and did a pretty darned good job with it!!
Then we left and headed to Cafe Demetre's. YUM. Dessert Heaven. There was so much to choose from! Crepes again, but with ice cream and whipped cream this time! And HUGE portions! I decided to have a sundae, with a crepe lining the bowl It was called Planet of the Crepes. All of their ice cream was homemade. The sundae consisted of banana chip ice cream, chocolate ice cream, chocolate fudge, bananas, whipped cream, and a little cone, all on a crepe in a bowl. YUM.
We took a group picture there, since that would be the last time we would see Leigh :-( Then we drove Elisa and her husband Gatsby home, and then drove Leigh home. We were EXHAUSTED by this point, and pretty much asleep all the way home.
Pictures (from Meg):

Date: 2003-08-01 09:42 pm (UTC)Pacific Mall is GREAT, it's where pretty much all of the asians in Toronto go to shop, so it's very ethnic. There's whole stores full of nothing but cute things. You would die ^_~
