I admire that the stars use their weight to campaign for what they believe in,
but I do think they should keep it out of award ceremonies and the like, since
it is related to their work and not outside interests. While it's sad that some
of the stars have been blacklisted, I understand the Academy's concern, considering
the Grammy's turned out to be fairly political as well.

And who wants politics when they're just tuning in for glitz, glamour and their
favourite stars/movies?

Yeah, I have to agree - a purely entertainment like the Oscars shouldn't be a venue for political protest. I really think that people of celebrity should do more for important issues like this, but it needs to be done on their time, not everyone else's - and who the shit wants to hear a bunch of whiny, largely uninformed bleeding-heart celebrities turn the evening into a war protest? I'm not too hot on this blowing up Iraq thing, but I can't find fault with the Academy for wanting to shut them the hell up.
