PLEASE, PLEASE take a minute to go here and read the article on libraries having to charge for audiovisual materials. But more importantly, PLEASE take the poll and say NO, LIBRARIES SHOULD NOT CHARGE FOR A/V!!

As of 10am the chargers were winning, but we've turned the tide. I can guarantee the state senate (which is still amending the final budget and might remove the charge addition) will look at this poll.

audio visual? like what? movies? music? things? our libraries already charge a small fee for those. unless they're documentaries.

I honestly don't see the problem. Libraries are severly under-funded and I think they need any money they can get their claws on. But I'll vote for you anyway ;)

At my library the charge has always been a buck for the movies. I thought that was fair, since there's greater risk in letting a movie go off with somebody, where it could be easily broken and no longer usable. A book can get damaged and still be read. I don't see this as a "anti-library" vs. "pro-library" issue. Although those jerkface comments you shared might make it look that way.
