I'm sorry if I offended anyone with my comment yesterday about being a moron for not voting. If you had a technical glitch, you're not a moron. But I just feel very strongly that if you live in this country, it is your responsibility to vote. It is apathy that gives you the kind of government that you like to sit back and say "I hate them all anyway." If you got out there, got informed, and voted, YOU could make a difference.

I totally agree. I think if you AREN'T voting, you should be. If you aren't registered, GO FREAKING SIGN UP! Ghahhhhhh! THESE are the voices that chime in when things get bad, the ones that didn't even get out to vote. the cartoon you posted is so true.

See, the inheritant problem with what you've just said is that not many people who go to vote are actually informed about the issues and the candidates. Most people vote on name recognition and a lot vote along party lines. Therefore, even if I did go out and get informed about what I was voting for or against, it still wouldn't make as much of a difference.

And that's entirely the wrong way to vote. Party lines mean squat and by name recognition only furthers the cause of big money.

But you can't make YOUR whole excuse for not voting "well everyone else is doing it wrong"
So do it right
And educate someone to do it right
And they'll educate someone to do it right
AND ALL THESE PEOPLE WILL BE VOTING

That wasn't my excuse for not voting- that was my explanation for why it isn't as easy as one person going out and voting for the system to change.

I guarentee you that no one cares about my opinion on how to vote right. And even if they did, there is no guarentee that they'd educate people.

Until there is good amounts of money spent educating the poor, young, and uneducated about voting and issues, the only people that are going to vote are the well off, educated, and 30 or older crowd.

(Present company excluded from some of that...obviously not everyone who is under-30 doesn't vote, but, the majority of people who vote are older. Why do we think the senior citizens levy passed? BECAUSE OLD PEOPLE VOTE! )

I'm with you on that one. I'm very passionate about voting. I can't imagine why anybody wouldnt want to vote. People are always quick to state the things that are wrong with this country. But if they don't vote, and try to change it, then I feel they're opinions/concerns really arent justified. Or, if they are justified, I dont want to hear them anyway. I certaintly dont think I would have the right to state my opinions or concerns if I didnt vote. And maybe that's harsh. But it's the way I feel. So yeah, I agree with you. We can make a difference. But only if we get out there and vote.

My best friend doesn't vote, but then again she doesn't
complain when things go bad either. She's usually to busy
to even pay attention to anything but rushing to work and
falling asleep..lol

Well, I didn't vote, and I bitch about plenty of things political. I don't drive, but yet, I have opinions about cars. I'm just annoying like that.

Let's face it... In nearly every home in America, there's at least one person who, although legally allowed to vote, probably shouldn't =p
