Ok, PISS OFF. I just went to IMDB and they changed the sex of two female characters to male characters (in Timeline). WTF!?!? There's a shortage of female actresses all of a sudden? One of them is a rather main/secondary character in the book, too. I have a large feeling [livejournal.com profile] suraimu and I are going to be doing a lot of MST'ing tomorrow.

Consider how many Chricton books were made into movies and adjust your expectations accordingly, darling. *snug*

Yeah, I did say last month this was probably going to be "Congo."

I only read half of Timeline, and then Jurassic Park. But..I don't think anyone could really do his books cinematic justice. There's just too much there.

movie casting, lately, has become totally beyond my comprehension. It would seem to be that if a story in a book is good enough to be a book, the main elements of the story would hold true even in a movie, just the whole thing would be cut down to be easily digestable in 2 hour bits....why they would change the gender of characters is beyond me! another one that has me mad is Renee Zellweger's casting of Ruby in the upcoming "Cold Mountain"...i am a huge fan of the book and throughout its made clear that ruby is "dark" in coloring, its mentioned only about 15 times, and that her children are dark and that she marrys a former slave...and yet they've cast Renee, who I like, but is no african american, or even mulatto...and they dont even do her makeup to look like one either! She says that its never mentioned in the book but I think that this shows she never read it ;) Why hollywood wouldn't jump at the chance to use a person of color is beyond me!

*shakes head* It makes you wonder how much the authors got paid to sign away complete control like that. "Hey, that's not how I wrote it-- Ooohh...look at the money!"

Well, Crichton apparently doesn't give a crap, or else he would have stopped doing it a LONG time ago.

Well, if one of them is that girl who gets beheaded as soon as they go back, then it doesn't really matter. But it is a bad sign.
