Since someone apparently has a problem with it, I've decided to post a Jewish Fact of the Day until they decide to unfriend me and go the hell away. Friends like you I don't need.

Today's Jewish Fact of the Day

The Jews are divided into two groups, the Ashkenazic and the Sephardic. The Ashekanzic Jews come from Russia, Poland, and Eastern Europe, while the Sephardic Jews come from Spain, Africa, and the Middle East. They have different ways of pronouncing some Hebrew words, and some different traditions.

My family is Ashkenazic, being from Poland and Russia.



Now, if you'll exuse me, I have to go tell CNN and MSNBC exactly what to say. Controlling the media, you know.

well.. you should get your bank to fund a group to go and impale them like you did Christ. Immediately reject their first offer and make sure you talk down what you'll pay them, after all.. you've got to be stingy. my friend rifka purplerifka (from wombat) is Ashkenazic, too...from eastern europe. she lived in israel for a year or so...has family there, and every so often thinks she'll go back one day.

so what have you done to control the money this week? I made an appointment for food stamps for monday, cuz, you know, even though I'm jewish and obviously rich, I just wanted to steal more of the taxpayers money. ;)

Actually, I really do have an appointment for that, but obviously I'm not rich. and, um, JEWS ROCK! oh, and I'm German, Russian, and Polish (all jews). That means I'm Ashkenazi right?

Pffftt....hasn't everyone realized that being Jewish is cool? People who say otherwise are highly ignorant and silly.

And, I think I'd like the Jewish Fact of the Day, since I'm an ignorant recovering-Catholic who knows very little about the Jewish religion/culture.

Me too -- pagan-in-training who grew up in a fundamentalist Southern Baptist family (Filipino SB even, for extra unpleasantness), so I didn't exactly learn a whole lot about Judaism. I'm all about the learning now; it's fascinating and helps facilitate greater understanding. :)

Fundies of the political persuasion are only interested in Jewish culture and religion in terms of how they can manipulate it in order to bring about Armageddon. I shit you not -- I read an article on Salon.com a while back about a senator who actually gave a speech on the Senate floor about how a particular strip of land had to remain in Israel's possession no matter what, because it was a matter of "whether or not God's word is true." I've got several relatives of this persuasion, and it's sickening to see how they slaver over articles and lectures on Israel and Judaism like it's some kind of amusing fetish, or something.
