I hate my job.
Aug. 30th, 2003 12:21 amWell, nothing like starting out the shift with a little worker's comp and ending it with a rear end collision.
CRAP.
My first delivery, I slipped on their wet wooden stairs, my feet flew out from under me and I landed on my butt/back. I slammed my elbow pretty hard. I thought I had just hit the "funny bone" and it would go away, but oh no, it kept getting progressively worse, I couldnt even open my car door with my left arm. I took 5 ibuprofen and that dulled the pain. It's a lot better now, but still sore. I didn't report it, I'll see how it is in a few days.
Then things were going pretty well! I was getting all the swanky houses and getting $3 and $4 tips all night. Then I was going on my last run, and I over shot the apartment complex, so I went a little farther to the next complex to turn around. I was stopped, with my turn signal on, to turn left, when SLAM!!!. Rear Ended. "FUCK FUCK FUCK FUCK FUCK!!!!!" I screamed. I burst into tears. He said he slid into me because the roads were slick. He was a delivery driver too, for LaRosas. I told him to call the police while I called my boss to come pick up the delivery.
The police line kept saying "All lines are busy, please try again later" so we were standing there wondering what to do, when a car coming the other direction slowed to a stop. It was an off duty Corrections Sherriff, in uniform. He started the process, and called Cincinnati Police for us and got them to come to the scene. The guy who hit me didn't have his insurance card on him. I was VERY glad I had both my license and my insurance card with me. The Sherriff stayed with us till the Cincinnati Police came, and once she arrived, we thanked the Sherrif for his help and he left. The Officer got us off the main road and into the apartment parking lot. She took our information, cited the other guy, and gave him a $100 fine. He admitted guilt to the Sherriff, he said "It's completely my fault, I hit her." The Sherrif said, "So you're admitting guilt?" And he said yes.
So blah. Now I have to get my car inspected, then fixed. 'Course, the other guy feels worse, because it's his second at fault accident of the year, he'll prolly be fired. At least we're both ok physically. It just really shook me up.
Tomorrow my mom's taking me to Torrid for my reward outfit. Then work, then maybe dancing at Yadda.
Now, I need sleep.
