Jan. 30th, 2003 06:53 amI find it so ironic that Fred Phelps (the disgusting leader of godhatesfags.com) is going to be in Cincinnati on the same day as Jessica Weiser (
doyouhearmenow).
Fred Phelps and his brain washed followers led a picket line of hecklers at Matthew Shepard's funeral; Jessica Weiser wrote a beautiful, stirring, chilling, tribute to Matthew Shepard. One is full of hate; one is full of love. I know
rivkah_rut says protesting him will just give him what he wants....so I will be at Jessica Weiser's concert on February 11th. THAT will be my protest. I hope you all will join me.
If Jessica doesn't mind, I'd like to share the lyrics to her song, After the Rain, the song about Matthew Shepard (if you do mind, Jess, please let me know and I'll take them down ASAP!!!)
After The Rain, by Jessica Weiser
the sun fell over laramie
to dry the rain in this lonely town
and if you listen closely you will hear
nothing but silence echoing
in the stale, hollow air
i could hear your calls from a thousand miles away
and these are not unfamiliar cries
turn off the tv and cover your eyes
we are beating innocence until it die j
udgements will not be erased
rage will never be replaced
if all we do is stand and watch and shake our heads
and then push it to the back of our minds until it happens again
there are no words to describe
just how ugly hate can be
and there are no words to express
how it feels to have a child taken away
all in the name of hate
i could hear your calls
from a thousand miles away
and these are not unfamiliar cries
turn off the tv and cover your eyes
we are beating innocence until it dies
judgements will not be erased
rage will never be replaced
if all we do is stand and watch
and shake our heads and then push it to the back of our minds
until it happens again
