Aug. 22nd, 2003 12:53 amThe Alix Olson concert ROCKED. *sigh* She is so sweet and funny and beautiful and sexy and adorable and cute, and YES, I do have a crush on her, how could you tell? She asked the audience at one point if anyone had a crush at the moment, and I was thinking "Yeah, on YOU!" ^_~
My seat was fantastic. I had a reserved seat front row center because I'd bought my ticket ahead of time. I also got to meet
photogrphygrl for the first time! It's her production company that hosted the show, THANK YOU SO MUCH FOR BRINGING ALIX TO TOWN! ^_~ Also, it was nice to finally meet you. ^_~
I bought the tank top I'd been wanting at Michigan but didn't get cause I figured I'd get it tonight. Well they sold out of all the stupid XL's in Michigan!! So much for being frugal. :-\ So I bought a large. It fits, but it's tight. But hey, it fits. That's a huge accomplishment.
Pamela Means opened the show with about an hour set, and she was really good, but I was just eager to see Alix! ^_~ Finally she came on, and I just died with how cute she looked. And she's so FUNNY! She was cracking jokes all night long. ("Bush's library burned down...he lost both his books.....and he hadn't finished coloring them yet....") Since I was front row, she kept looking right at me, right in my eyes. I mean, she was looking at other people too, I'm not taking this as anything special, but it was just wonderful to be looking in her beautiful eyes. And the BEST part of the evening was she performed my favorite poem!! I was SURE she wasn't going to do Eve's Mouth, but there it was, the last one of her set! I died, then recovered and cheered myself hoarse. I took lots of pictures, I'm going to get them developed tomorrow.
Here's Alix's set list:
Built Like That
Cute For a Girl
Subtle Sister
Kindness and Rage
America's on Sale
Unsteady Things
Wholly Human
Women Before Me
8 X 10
Eve's Mouth
Ohh, it was WAYYY to short. And since I saw her a bunch of times last week, and I just saw her today, and this is the last time she's in the area for the year, I'm going to be in MAJOR withdrawal. Must talk self out of driving 4 and 1/2 hours to see her in Pittsburgh on September 12.
They did have a postcard of the most GORGEOUS picture I've ever seen of her, I'll scan it as soon as I can so you all can see it. Hmm, I should have picked up a few...^_~
I also volunteered myself to go politicking on Saturday with the Citizens to Restore Fairness. See, Cincinnati is the only city in the nation where it's legal to be fired or evicted simply because you're gay. We're trying to repeal that. But they need signatures. So I volunteered to help go door to door on Saturday and get signatures. If anyone wants to come help, let me know, it's from 10am-2pm, meeting in Avondale. I can get you more information.
It was also just really good to be in a room full of dykes again ^_^ I was missing that energy, that vibe. It felt good. It was a good night. Good night ^_~
