I taught my first of four French classes today! I was nervous at first...it had been a long time since I'd taught.

I only have three students in my class, but the students and the parents are apparently all really excited about it. The moms thanked me for continuing to hold the class and said they hoped I'd get more students in the fall.

We covered almost everything in my lesson plan, but I realized I'm going to have to slooooowww things waaaayy down for the next three classes. More games over the same material, less new new new material.

Today we learned the pronouns "je," "tu," "il," and "elle;" we learned how to say "je m'appelle," "tu t'appelles," "il/elle s'appelle;" the difference between "la mere" and "ma mere" and "le pere" and "mon pere" (THAT one took a while). And brother and sister and cat and dog. And the numbers 1-10. That's a lot for the first class!

Next week I had them learning numbers 11-20, but I don't think all of them really grasped 1-10. It's hard because two of them are on a different level than the other. But fun! I <3 spreading language love.

Teach me! )
